Camp Dreams

Hey, Wapsie-Folk. This is Andy posting again.

Am I the only one who still regularly has dreams about Camp?

The most recent camp-related dream occurred last night. I dreamed that I was at next September's reunion. There was a whole bunch of people there, but oddly, I recognized very few of them. Some were older, some younger, some my age, but very few faces were familiar to me. And even those that I did recognize (including Laura, Zeller, Shawn Cummings and Aaron) barely acknowledged me. They all just gave me a courtesy head-nod, and maybe a mumbled, "hey."

The males of the reunion, for some reason, all wanted to wrestle each other. All day long, that's all they did ... wrestled in the cabins, wrestled in the Big Field, challenged each other to wrestling matches. (I suspect this somehow parallels the boxing thing they had going on in the "Indian Summer" movie.)

The only person who was friendly to me was a guy who identified himself as "Chad." He was a real-life person who was in my cabin my very first year at camp, 23 years ago. To my knowledge, "Chad," or whatever his name was in real life, never came back to camp after that year. My only memory of him was that he was the one kid in our cabin willing to crawl through the mud so we could get some prize during an all-camp game. Anyway, in my dream, "Chad" was at the camp reunion. We sang a little of the cabin cheer from that year (a parody of "Let's Hear it for the Boy"), and went our separate ways.

That was about it. If anyone would like to analyze all that, be my guest. Also, if anyone else has camp dreams (I can't be the only one, can I?) I'd love to hear them.

p.s.: I've taken the liberty of "inviting" myself to be a contributor to this blog. I did this so I won't have to log out of blogger, look up the user name, and log back in every time I want to post. I hope this is OK.

Liz Dillon Croco

First of all- thanks Betsy for doing this. It's a great idea. I'm with Andy- I wouldn't know what to do on Facebook or myspace. This is simple enough!

So as you can see, I have two little ones. Samantha will be 4 in January and Dillon just turned 2 last week. They are both wonderful, feisty and spirited children so they keep us on our toes.

We still live in Iowa City (North Liberty to be precise). I am still lawyering, now in Iowa City, no longer in Cedar Rapids. It's funny running into David Bright or Darcie's husband, Pope, at local bar associating meetings or the courthouse. Makes you realize what a small world we live in!

Besty- I think it's time to start digging up old pictures so we can all get a laugh! Hope everyone is doing well!
